Berkswell Cricket Club Junior Section Newsletter - 22nd January 2020

This edition contains important information about timing changes to winter net sessions that come into force this Sunday 26 January. Also we're sharing updates on the 2020 Junior sponsorship and the official launch of new Lant Bar management team. Please read on...

IMPORTANT - new session added to Sunday night training

We're delighted to see a record number of players at Sunday night winter training - we have had more than 80 attend each week, with some sessions seeing more than 30 children. To ensure we provide the best coaching possible and a safe environment we have decided to put on an extra session from Sunday 26 January. We have also arranged extra time from James Rudge, our Complete Cricket coach to cover this. The 4pm session remains unchanged. We will split the current 5pm and 6pm groups, and spread them over three, hour-long sessions from 5pm – 8pm. This extra session reduces the numbers in each to around 20 which is safer and which will allow more effective coaching. Parents will receive an email in the next 48 hours to confirm what time we expect to welcome their children on Sunday. We're sorry if this change causes inconvenience, but we want to give our players the best experience we can. If the revised timings do give you major logistical difficulties or you remain unclear which session your child should attend, please get in touch via email , and we will try and find a suitable resolution. The running order is now: 4-5 pm (unchanged) - Softball and progression to hardball - years 2- 5 5-6 pm - Hardball 6-7 pm - Hardball 7-8 pm - Hardball 8-9 pm - Hardball - ages 15+ and adults Some safety reminders please:

  • Please try to arrive promptly for your session, the warm ups are important to avoid injuries.

  • Can players wait in the sports hall lobby area for their session to start.

  • Please can players and parents leave their sessions promptly to allow on time start for the following sessions

This all helps avoid crowding in the sports hall and keeps everyone safe - especially if there are hard balls flying about!

Winter training now officially FULL- make sure your child is registered and paid!

Now that we have added an extra session, our Sunday night nets are full and we are unable to accept any new players. We urge all parents whose children have attended thus far to get them registered and paid on our new system as soon as possible to guarantee a place. Here's a reminder of the link to our e-registration system

No Sunday session on February 2

A reminder that there is no training on February 2 due to coach unavailability on the day
