Berkswell Cricket Club Junior Section Newsletter - Spring 2021
We have made changes so that numbers in each session are reduced to around 15 to help social distancing. We will follow ECB guidance on safety. We will be training based on team squads so that they have a better opportunity to develop skills as a playing group. Each hardball session will be coached by one professional coach from Complete Cricket, supported by at least one qualified Berkswell CC coach. We appreciate that these arrangements may cause some issues where siblings are in different sessions, please speak to your age group manager / coach for help on this. As many of our 17-19 year olds are now playing senior cricket, we are looking to combine their practice with the Mens 2nd XI on a Wednesday evening. These will be our training times this year. Tuesdays (run from 6 April - 13 July) 5-6 pm up to U10 (year 5) hardball 6-7 pm U11 (year 6) hardball 7-8 pm U12 (year 7) hardball Wednesdays (from 7 April) 5.30- 6.30pm U16 (Year 11) – opportunity to stay on for adult nets if comfortable 6.30 pm – U17 – U19 - as part of adult net session Thursdays (8 April - 15 July) 5-6 pm U13 (year 8) 6-7pm U14 (Year 9) 7-8pm U15 (Year 10) Fridays – NEW SESSION (9 April - 16 July) 6pm softball for children U8 (year 3) and up Saturdays (8 May - 26 June) 9:00 am All Stars for children aged 5-8 details and online sign up here
We have kept subscriptions at Summer 2019 levels. Your 2021 subscription will include a free green training shirt. White team shirts can be bought at cost price (junior sizes £17, senior sizes £20) This years subscriptions are: Softball - £60 Hardball - £90 Sibling discounts of 20% will apply to those households with more than one junior member. We will again use our online Membership Mojo app to allow you to sign up and pay subscriptions. Please use this as we want to move away completely from cash, cheques and paper for convenience and safety. We will also have a card machine available on training nights.
Last year we used a net booking system to enable parents to book timeslots to help their children practice, and this ensured a reasonably even level of access when demand was very high through the Summer. We will be operating this system again this year, inline with the newly issued ECB guidance. We'll finalise the booking arrangements soon and will share this with members. We will again be reserving some timeslots for Complete Cricket to use to run their one-to-one coaching both in the Easter holidays and through the season. Please contact them to book these sessions.

Huge thanks to our volunteer managers this year who have stepped up to allow us to enter so many teams into the leagues. Remember, each manager needs help with scoring and umpiring – so please do offer your help if you can. We are very pleased that we will again have sponsorship support from Nationwide Windows (development partners), TriplePoint (match shirt sponsors), Lexus Coventry, Acorn Printing and PJM Group as well as a generous donation from Balsall Common Lions. We are always looking for more sponsors to support the increasing costs of what we do, if you have any businesses or contacts who may be interested in helping us.
