It has been a long and difficult lockdown, and a huge shame that we weren’t able to offer winter training to the boys and girls. But I hope, like me, you are looking forward to getting outside and playing some cricket.
We have taken a different approach this year with training arrangements. We have listened to your feedback and also seen the benefit from smaller training groups last year. We have also taken into account our duty towards safety and restrictions on numbers.
We hope our new Friday evening softball session targeted at 8-10 year olds will be popular, both on the field and in the clubhouse as we look forward to some cold drinks on warm Friday nights. Ant Ingram, our bar manager is very keen to get back to business as soon as he is allowed. Please support the bar and make good use of our social facilities over the coming Summer.
I am delighted that we will be offering the All-Stars programme for 5 – 8 year olds on Saturday mornings. This initiative has swelled the ranks of able young cricketers at the club in recent years and forms a great entry to new players. We do rely on volunteers for its success, so if you can spare a couple of hours either on the pitch, helping with the admin or providing refreshments on sunny Saturday mornings in May and June please do get in touch with me.
I would like to thank our growing band of volunteers and offer a very warm welcome to those who are joining us this year. Our thriving club relies on our parent volunteers – quite simply, we couldn’t offer the opportunities we do without them. We are continuing our partnership with Complete Cricket in 2021 – benefiting from some very experienced coaches, many of whom have played at first class level. We will also be supplementing this with our own qualified coaches who have come through our youth system in recent years.
So, after a long period of inactivity, we can’t wait to get started, and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible down at the Lant this Summer
Peter Wreford - Junior Chairman
Due out end of April 2021
Our Junior season costs a minimum of £10,000 pa to fund overall. We have successfully managed this through membership income and sponsorship over the last couple of years, however it is a major challenge going forward as we continue to grow. Please get in touch if you can help!
