Junior Cricket

Message from our Junior Chairperson

My name is Matt Ginn, I'm 43 years old and live on Wootton Green Lane in the village with my wife Sarah (who I’m sure many of you know from cricket coaching) and our 2 boys who are also members of the club. I have been a member of Berkswell CC for around 10 years and have held various positions on the Senior Committee for the last 7 years. When we moved to the village from Cardiff in 2010, I originally joined the club as a Saturday 2nd XI player and subsequently took on the captaincy a few years later. Once my younger son was born I decided to put my kit away for a few years and began to take a more active social role in the club. I ended up holding the position of Social Secretary for the last four years and by doing so have managed to meet and become friends with all types of club members: from the Vice Presidents to the players to parents. More importantly for the journey ahead, I have built some really good relationships with the Senior club and hope to be able to leverage this benefit to ensure we get the best for the Junior section in the years ahead.

It is clear that the Berkswell Junior section is exceptionally well organised and financially secure, which is a great platform to come into. We have a terrific group of members, coaches, volunteers and parents and that is something we need to hold dear and also build on. We pride ourselves on providing an inclusive, non-discriminatory environment for anyone of any ability to come and play cricket in a safe manner. We are currently building our winter and summer programmes for all age groups (and all abilities) that we hope will provide a structured and rewarding experience to all of our members.

If anyone has any questions at all then please do not hesitate to contact me by email  on mattginn@yahoo.com . I am looking forward to meeting as many players and parents as possible over the coming months as we gear up for another great year of junior cricket.

Sponsorship

Our Junior season costs a minimum of £10,000 pa to fund overall. We have successfully managed this through membership income and sponsorship over the last couple of years, however it is a major challenge going forward as we continue to grow.  Please get in touch if you can help!
